DIY zines (handmade magazines) allow each of us to connect with others through our ideas, opinions, dreams, thoughts, rants, and other creative expressions whether personal, political, private, public, or anywhere in between.
During this workshop, we’ll briefly explore the history of zines and other self-publishing forms. Then we will take a step into their future by creating our own individual zines to share with the class, and anyone else you might want to give a piece of your mind!
All supplies provided, you bring ideas and enthusiasm!

I have been a story teller since I began to talk and a writer since I picked up my first Composition notebook and black Flair pen. I wrote my first newspaper issue (for my neighborhood “The Exeter Times”) at 8 years old, and have written poetry, fiction, and essays, but the foundation of my writing life has been a 50+ year notebook habit. Zines were introduced to my life during the punk days, and have fascinated me ever since. I have introduced zines to young children, college students, a range of different communities, and the stray stranger that I can convince to listen to me.
